Keith Moore

Senior Pastor

My wife and I moved from North Carolina to Maine in August 2007, after I was called to pastor FBC Portland.

My Dad and Mom made an incalculable impact on my life. They were very affirming and loving. Their words of affirmation, encouragement and love built me up. Through their words, I came to see I was created with purpose and that God had wonderful plans for my life.

Pastor David Graham, my high school soccer coach, also impacted my life immensely and I’ve leaned on his counsel since. He is a quintessential people person. He modeled to me what it looks like for a pastor to love people well. To this day, he continues to be my lifetime mentor.

In my teenage years, I began feeling called into ministry by God. I started desiring to see people come to know Christ. As this desire grew, my desire to preach the Word of God also grew.

My call to ministry was then confirmed by the church. As I began to preach, people in the church communicated to me that they were blessed through my preaching. They affirmed that God had given me the gift of preaching and that he was calling me to use it for his glory.

This knowledge of God’s call on my life led me to Tennessee Temple University where I earned a B.A. in Pulpit Communications-Public Speaking.

I then went on to study at Dallas Theological Seminary where I earned a Masters of Theology in Pastoral Ministries/Leadership. At Dallas, I met Dr. Howard Hendricks, a professor who influenced my passion for teaching God’s Word. In every class, Dr. Howard Hendricks taught with enthusiasm and excitement for the Bible. He modeled to me how to preach the Word of God in a powerful and meaningful way.

After graduating from Dallas, I enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in their nationally recognized doctoral program in education and cultural studies created by David Purpel. In 1998, I graduated from UNC Greensboro with a PhD in Curriculum and Teaching.

Through these studies, I have become an experienced theologian, Bible expositor and church leader. My knowledge of Greek and Hebrew allow me to study and proclaim the Word of God accurately. I have become a thought leader and spokesperson for Christianity through religious/cultural articles I’ve written and through interviews I have given. God has also opened doors for me to teach over fifty times in Eastern Europe.

My ministry is characterized by loving people and preaching the Word. I love helping people grow in their knowledge of God. I love helping people understand God’s greatness and his loving grace towards us all. I love telling people, who’ve never heard, about the truth of God’s love for them. I enjoy counseling people and couples going through difficult times. I am motivated to see believers mature and deepen in their faith. This motivation is what fuels my passion to preach the Word of God on Sundays.

God has blessed me with my wife Pam, a math teacher in the Maine Public School System. She is so supportive and tremendously involved in my ministry. Without her help and support, my ministry wouldn’t be what it is. I am truly grateful for the love she has for others manifested in her outreach and ministry to people in our church.

Outside of church, I love riding motorcycles, the Dallas Cowboys, and UNC Tarheel basketball. I also love spending time with my wife, three daughters, one son-in-law and three grandsons.
